Founded in 2002, the Madison Brass Band is dedicated to sharing our passion for music through the rich tradition of British-style brass banding. We strive to preserve and advance this unique art form while inspiring audiences of all ages. By fostering meaningful community partnerships and creating exceptional musical experiences in casual and competitive settings, we aim to strengthen cultural life in Madison and beyond.

The Madison Brass Band is an all-volunteer group of musicians from a variety of backgrounds providing free/affordable performances throughout South Central Wisconsin and beyond. Past performing venues include churches, historical sites, bandstands, retirement homes, and national competition appearances. From classic brass band tunes to pops, classical, and jazz, MBB strives to introduce Wisconsin to the cultural impact and virtuosity of British-Style brass band. The band regularly collaborates within the community performing jointly occasionally with the Milwaukee Festival Brass, as well as featuring musicians in programs with brass and organ, joint brass band/concert band performances, and brass and choir.

Musicians volunteer their time and come from wildly varying backgrounds and career fields including electricians, teachers, veterans, lawyers, accountants, and freelancing musicians. Musicians range from high school and university students up through retirees. This intergenerational collaboration is a very unique experience to brass band as tradition and performance practice gets passed down yearly.
